Beret to Montgarri

This is a cyclical route located at the Vall d'Aran Natural Park and goes from Beret to Montgarri. It is a route of 9Km and we can do it with the to enjoy the
landscape of the high mountain.
When we arrive to Pla of Beret we will find a wide
esplanade with a great parking
to leave the car.
Just arriving into the parking we could enjoy the scenery, with the ski tracks, where depending on the time of the year w do this route will be full of snow.
Next to the parking, we could see horses and normally cows grazing on the fields,
and they even appreciate the human company.
We can begin the route by the footpath that we will find it on our right hand when we leave the parking, the return of our

way we will do it by the road we can see on the left hand. As it is very difficult to get loss, becaue we just have to follow the road, we recommended to follow the same direction of the way but by the esplanade of grass. If we walk in the esplanade, following the direction of firs and pines the forests that are a bit more ahead, we could reach the river Noguera Pallaresa, that crosses the zones of grass of high mountain, running between the two ways, the one that we will follow and the returning one. Any place is bucolic and wonderful and we can take something to eat and enjoy the landscape,
because we are surrounded by the vegetation and we will only listen the song of the birds and the noise of the animals, and the noise of the cold water that lowers by the river.
In order to continue the route following the direction of Montgarri, we will have to find the way that we have left alongside straight, in the side of the mountains of forest tracks. We will follow the pathway, and we will find few cars on the way, crossing different forests from black pines, until we arrive to a parking. We will find a narrow footpath on our left hand that descends smoothly, this path will lead us to Montgarri.
Montgarri is a mountain town, at the

moment depopulated, located in the Vall d'Aran, its name means Mountain of wheat, due to the fertile valleys that surround it.
We will find some houses collapsed, called locally bordes, of the inhabitants whom they had to leave the town in the 70's due to hard the conditions of life during the winter, they were at 1645m of altitude. Nowadays has recovered more importance thanks to the tourism, it is really near to the Baqueira-Beret ski resorts, as well as near to the Refuge of Friends of Montgarri (next to the sanctuary).
The Sanctuary of Montgarri was constructed in 1117 next to the river
Noguera Pallaresa and surrounded by grass and forests allowing to enjoy the silence of the mountain.
